Barry was born in Uttoxeter in 1947. Married to Pat for 47 years, he has 2 sons and a daughter and has lived in Little Haywood for the last 32 years.
After working at board level for Gross Cash Registers in Brighton for 14 years, he returned to Staffordshire in 1975 to form Classic Cash Registers Ltd. In 1984 he went on to form the company Classic Glass and Dishwashing Systems Ltd. which, upon it's sale to a German competitor in 2004, had become well established as one of the UK's leading brands. The manufacturing plant in Hixon remains highly successful today.
The purchase of a farm in Little Haywood in 1984 threw Barry and Pat into a new challenge! He says "To say we didn't know a lot about farming would be an understatement, but in those days we were quick learners!"
Today, they run a flock of pedigree Texel sheep and lamb a further 300 commercial ewes.
He has previously been President of Stafford Chamber of Commerce, Inaugural Chairman of the Stafford SRB 6 Board and is the current Chair of Governors of the Stafford Independent Grammar School.
Barry sits on the Income Generation Committee and is also a board member of KHH Retail Ltd.
A keen gardener with a very large garden, Barry regulary opens his garden for others to enjoy for the benefit of the hospice.
