Role Group: Board of Trustees

I joined the board of trustees in August 2018. I have been married to Melanie for 36 years and we have three grown up children.I grew up and went to school in Stafford. I qualified as a doctor at Nottingham University in 1980 and completed my GP training in Bristol in 1985. I was a GP at Eccleshall for 32 years until I retired in 2017. As senior partner I developed the practice as it grew and expanded and managed the award winning project of the conversion of the Crown Inn to the Crown Surgery in the High Street in 1992.

I also have experience of board membership. I have been a school governor and was a GP board member of the Stafford Primary Care Group and its successor, the Stafford Primary Care Trust for several years.

I am treasurer of the Eccleshall Tennis Club. I have completed two London Marathons and a number of long distance walks over the years including the Coast to Coast (with my son), the Pennine Way (with my elder daughter), Hadrian’s Wall, and the GR20 route in Corsica. Most recently I walked the Dales Way with my wife in 2018. I have rowed the Thames and cycled Land End to John O’Groats solo and on a tandem (with my younger daughter).
