Tailored specialist support

We run a variety of specialist sessions throughout the week, tailored to people under our care to help manage symptoms and live a better quality of life.

Every session is held at our Therapy & Wellbeing Centre, Weston Road, Stafford, ST16 3SB.

Booking is required for all, apart from our new Men’s group which is a drop-in.

To book a place, or for more information on any of our sessions, please call us on 01785 270832.

A referral to our care is required to access these sessions.

If you’re living with an incurable illness and would like support, your GP or doctor can refer you to our services.

You can also self-refer by calling our advice line 01785 270832 during weekday office hours, 9 am – 5 pm.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Social prescribing

Practical and emotional support for patients and loved ones, helping with things like loneliness, money worries, or stress.

We can connect you with services and activities that suit you, so you can feel better and manage your health more easily.

Monday

Heart and respiratory failure clinic

Tailored support for people with heart or respiratory failure, focusing on symptom management and quality of life.

You’ll be connected to the most suitable services, such as social prescribing, counselling, physiotherapy, and complementary therapies.

We also provide expert guidance with advance care planning and what to do if your condition worsens.

Relaxation

A guided body relaxation with calming music, helping you unwind and take some time for yourself in a safe, peaceful space.

You can join online too – just let us know, and we’ll send you the Microsoft Teams code ahead of time.

Neuro group

Exercise and relaxation sessions for people with neurological conditions, and the opportunity to spend social time with people experiencing similar health issues.

Tuesday

Seated yoga

A gentle and supportive way for patients to improve flexibility, relaxation, and overall wellbeing.

Relaxation for carers

A session designed for carers, to relax every part of their body from head to feet.

Guided through it and with calming music helping you unwind, release tension and take some time for yourself.

You can join online too – just let us know, and we’ll send you the Microsoft Teams code ahead of time.

Wednesday

Tai chi

A slow, calming practice that can improve both your physical and mental wellbeing.

It helps with mindfulness, reducing pain and fatigue, and lifting your mood.

We offer both seated and standing options to suit you, with an assessment to make sure it’s the right fit.

Men’s group

Starting Wednesday, 9 April. 

No booking needed for this drop-in social session.  Men of all ages are welcome to pop in, have a cuppa, and enjoy games like dominoes, cards, and chess. It’s a relaxed space to spend time with others who understand.

Time: 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Thursday

Wellbeing and FAB (fatigue, anxiety and breathlessness)

A four-week programme designed to help you manage fatigue, breathlessness, and anxiety (FAB) while focusing on relaxation and wellbeing.

Each session offers practical advice and gentle techniques to support your health.

Plus, you can choose to join optional pop-in sessions on nutrition, sleep, and advanced care planning in later weeks.

Friday

Parkinson’s Clinic

Specialised support and advice for individuals living with Parkinson’s.

Two expert Parkinson’s nurses from Stafford Hospital will be on hand to provide individualised support – one for patients, and one for carers.

Book club

A relaxed, friendly book club where you choose what to read. Everyone reads the same book, then comes together to chat about favourite characters, thoughts, and interpretations – no pressure to finish, just enjoy.

Try different genres, share ideas, and form friendships in a supportive space. It’s your club, shaped by you.

Quiz

Patients, families and carers can drop in and join the fun with general knowledge, seasonal themes, and plenty of laughs.

No pressure, just a friendly get-together.

Mindfulness

Learn simple techniques to help with relaxation and improve your everyday wellbeing. It’s all about being present in the moment and managing stress more easily.
