“I raised funds by running the London Marathon – then my dad needed your care”
For the past 35 years, we have supported more than 30,000 local families providing specialist care for people who have incurable illnesses.
It costs £4 million a year to run our services and all of our care is provided free of charge. One way you can help us continue to care is by fundraising.
Last year, Ant Morgan ran the London Marathon raising almost £2,000 for us. Eight months later his dad, Terence, received our care.
“From day one of being in the hospice, my dad was treated as an individual. He was given care 24/7” said Ant.
“Our family could visit whenever we wanted – it was like he was living in his own self-contained flat.

“You treated my dad with dignity and kindness”
“My dad was cared for by you for ten days and it was like a home-from home environment.
“You treated him with kindness and when he died – the day before his 82nd birthday – he did so with dignity surrounded by his family.”
Last year, we supported almost 2,000 patients and their families. As a local charity, we rely heavily on the support of our community to raise the majority of funds which enables us to help patients from day one of diagnosis.
Ant continued: “Your nurses and staff treated my family with respect and were honest with us from the very start for which we were very grateful.
“The hospice is all about family and making people feel comfortable.
“You even kept in touch with us after my dad died to check to see how we were doing which meant such a lot to my mum. You are all angels – thank you.”
There are many ways you can help raise vital funds for us locally, including donations, gifts in wills, buying from our shops and taking part in fundraising events.
