People play a huge part in the overall success of an organisation, often becoming one of its greatest assets. Attracting, developing and retaining the best talent is a key part of HR’s role in supporting the organisation to achieve its goals.
Like many of my colleagues, I joined Katharine House Hospice to make a real difference and add value.
Having worked for a number of commercially focused businesses for the last 23 years, in an array of industries including professional services, corporate, retail, consultancy and manufacturing, I felt it was time to pursue a personal passion to give something back.
I have successfully built, developed and transformed HR services within a number of organisations, removing non-value adding work and reinvesting HR support and resources into areas that really make a difference for the organisation; whether that be in people partnering, peer coaching, operational performance or people development. These are all areas I am keen to develop within Katharine House Hospice.
When I am not working, I enjoy the outdoors, generally walking with my two dogs and enjoying a tea room or pub stop along the way, or a beach walk! I also enjoy travelling, reading, listening to music and occasionally the Xbox. Yes, the Xbox!
My favourite quote both in and out of work is “be the change you want to see”. Leadership is not something reserved for those with a title.
